Carhenge

1300 miles on my car, about 24 hours in a car and 4 states in little more than one day? I sacrified 3 dates with 3 different guys for that? Yes...I did. And it was worth every second.

I went on a roadtrip with my brother this weekend. For years I've wanted to see this thing called Carhenge. It's cars shoved into the ground, stacked up, torn apart and made to look similar to Stonehenge. I've never been able to get anyone to go with me because it's a 9 hour drive. I recently mentioned it to my brother and he was totally game. So after school on Friday we drove...with no clue where we were going to stay and just a general idea of where we needed to end up. We found a campsite and set up our tent. Eventhough it's October, the weather was really nice and it was cool but not as cool as it could have been. It was refreshing, actually, to sleep outside, to hear the birds and the wind, to wake up with the sun shining down on my face through the seams in the cloth. Saturday we drove into Wyoming. It was only 60 miles from where we were and I've always wanted to see it. We saw antelope which helped me to finally understand the song about deer and antelope playing. We also got to see the Carhenge. People have driven from all over the US and Canada just to see this place and I must say, it was pretty amazing.

More amazing, though, was the time I got to spend with my brother. We didn't talk alot. Most of the trip was spent in silence but it wasn't the awkward kind. It was comfortable...the kind of comfort that can only be felt with family. I'm glad we did this because in a few weeks, he'll be graduating and who knows what will happen then. But it doesn't really matter where he goes, I have the memories of that one weekend when we drove to Nebraska and Wyoming to see some cars stuck in the ground. It's true...I am that kind of person. And I've decided that I don't want to be any other way.
